Vinyl Alignment Solution - Introduction
The Vinyl Alignment Solution (VAS)
represents a completely new and innovative approach to cartridge alignment for
Hi-Fi turntables.
Traditionally, generic two point alignment protractors, are used
to impose pre-determined alignment geometry onto your turntable.
This geometry is based on the work of H G Baerwald etc, from the early
1940's and represents a "one size fits all" approach.
VAS takes the opposite approach, using the capabilities of
a modern PC to produce a custom design, optimised for your own, individual
turntable. Since design is produced in your computer, it allows cartridge
alignment to be achieved with a single alignment point -
this is much easier than using two alignment points, as with traditional
gauges
Critically, V.A.S. gives you the ability to investigate changes
to your alignment geometry, before making changes to your turntable set up. The
results of the design process are presented both graphically and numerically.
The graphs give great insight into the design process and are an invaluable aid
to understanding the "Black Art" of cartridge alignment.
